Boggo Road BuswayThiess is constructing the Boggo Road Busway and the first section of the Eastern Busway.  Both projects are being delivered by the Boggo Road Busway Alliance, which includes Thiess, Queensland Transport and Sinclair Knight Merz.

The Boggo Road Busway will provide people from Brisbane's south and east direct travel access to The University of Queensland without going through the city.  It will also allow people to easily change between bus and rail services at Park Road rail station, providing access to both the Gold Coast and Cleveland rail lines.

The first section of the Eastern Busway provides the link between the Boggo Road and South East Busways.

Project Highlights
  • Program acceleration - Delivery was brought forward to coincide with the North South Bypass Tunnel (NSBT) works underway near the Pacific Motorway.  Building this section at the same time as NSBT works has saved money and minimised disruption to commuters by utilising traffic changes and lane closures already scheduled by NSBT
  • Working safely - Thiess' capability in and around live railway lines and brownfield busway sites is a key success factor
  • Focus on community - A team of site-based communicators is interacting with local residents, organisations, schools and the media to minimise the effect of construction activities
  • Employee health and wellbeing is a priority for Thiess, with initiatives including presentations by general practitioners, vaccinations and skin cancer checks
  • Forging partnerships for mutual benefit - Building tunnels under several rail lines has required close planning and cooperation with Queensland Rail. More than 12 weekend rail closures have been successfully carried out without delays to train timetabling.
  • Contributing to the knowledge bank by participating in the Work Life Balance research conducted by Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
